S/lab Shift2 16 Mn Touring Ski Bindings

For freeriders who earn the climb and charge the descent, Salomon’s S/LAB SHIFT² 16 MULTINORM is a touring binding built to retain uphill freedom without giving up downhill power and precision. Its DIN 16 setting and reinforced toe and heel support that aim. A low stand height on the Low profile Chassis increases terrain feedback and power transmission, while climbing aid positions can be switched easily with poles. At the heel, the reinforced three-part 3-Part Power heel combines a metal lever with 16 mm of elastic travel for strong energy transfer and precise control. Materials serve distinct purposes: fiber-glass-reinforced Glass-Fiber PA polyamide makes the binding lighter, durable and more tolerant on skis; rigid, strong aluminum enhances power transfer; and exceptionally rigid, non-deforming steel meets racers’ demands for power and precision. Carbon Loaded™ PA, a very light, resistant carbon-and-polyamide alloy, supplies extreme resistance and rigidity. Under the boot, the micrometric height-adjustable Power Block AFD uses a single-block aluminum insert for support and 30% greater lateral stiffness than previous generations. The spring-mounted Sliding Toe pedal moves laterally and re-centers, allowing any normed boot to release in a lateral fall. Hybrid Toe offers elastic travel that retains the boot through bigger shocks and works with all normed boots without compromising safety or performance. Long XL Wings wrap the boot tip for greater power transmission and confidence in freeride; their elastic travel holds the boot through larger shocks and reduces pre-release risk. Dedicated crampons can be attached through the crampon system.
