Virginia Tech awarded the Speedframe Pro Fade its highest rating, 5 STARS, in the organization’s bicycle helmet evaluation program. Built with input from professional mountain-bike athletes, this open-face, high-end mountain-bike helmet is aimed at performance on the trail and brings together advanced features. In a fall, MIPS™ is designed to reduce rotational movement and redirect forces away from the brain; the additional protection system has been shown to reduce that movement in a helmet by absorbing and redirecting energies and forces that would otherwise reach the brain. Impact protection is further supported by dual-density EPS Varizorb™, which spreads impact forces across a larger area. The 360-degree fit system lets you dial in a perfect fit each time you ride, while the Fidlock® SNAP buckle allows quick, secure entry and exit and remains easy to operate with gloves. Its antimicrobial XT2® liner manages odor, wicks moisture from the head, and can be removed and washed easily when it gets a little smelly. Channeled, molded EPS provides optimized ventilation for effective cooling, and the three-position adjustable visor works with eyewear. Note: avoid exposure to aerosols such as insect repellents and sunscreens, as they can flake the helmet’s finish.
