For fresh stains, wet spot(s) with warm or cold water depending on the nature of the stain, and rub it with soap. Then put garment in the washer using the normal wash cycle. For older cooked-in stains, wet the stain and rub in the soap. Then let sit in soapy water for a couple hours to a full day (depending on the stain).
