Mammut recommends pairing it with the Smart HMS, and suitable rope diameters range from 8,7 to 10,5 mm. Based on the tube principle, the Smarter 2.0 is suited to both lead climbing and top-rope climbing. Reliable climbing-rope blocking comes from a newly developed, high-performance braking insert that interacts with the safety carabiner in a fall, leaving the belayer well equipped and safer. The Smart 2.0 builds on experience gained since the successful launch of the first Smart generation in 2009, delivering considerably improved braking efficiency and optimized geometry. Its intuitive handling is accompanied by the same belaying action as the previous model, making it suited to the belayer’s reflex movements.
