At the heart of the new Protector EVO PR 11 GW is an updated heel with Full Heel Release (FHR): intelligent horizontal and vertical release through 180° that significantly lowers release forces in forward and, especially, backward twisting falls. Reduced knee loading supports safer skiing and a significant reduction and mitigation of knee injuries. Finite element model simulations by the University of Innsbruck, “Lateral Heel Release Reduces ACL strain in Simulated Backward Twisting Falls”, indicate that FHR can reduce ACL strain by more than 50%. The new, redesigned VX Toe brings together TYROLIA safety features including BTR kinematics, AFS and Full Diagonal Toe, with maximum safety provided by the new BTR kinematics. To keep release values constant during backward twisting falls, BTR compensates for friction using two different release characteristics according to vertical load. The toe wings move upward to a new hinge point during such a fall; the resulting change in lever arm offsets increased forces and maintains consistent release behavior. Four rollers in the TYROLIA TRP - Roller Pincer Toe System provide 180° release and precise boot centering while reducing loads on knees and ligaments and considerably improving performance. TYROLIA Full Diagonal Release adds intelligent 180° release horizontally and vertically, while the TYROLIA AFS - Anti Friction Slider provides secure release and rapid, exact boot re-centering for greater safety and reliability. Built on PowerRail technology, this binding works with all skis fitted with a pre-mounted PR Base and accommodates all Alpine ski boots meeting ISO 5355 TYPE A and all GripWalk ski boots meeting ISO 23223 TYPE A. It is intended for piste skiers of any age, from beginners to advanced skiers, and includes TX BTR Toe, Full Diagonal, PowerRail and HR EVO Heel.
